Confused by the ending of Umineko 4

aoiyuuzora:

WAIT WHAT’S HAPPENING WHAT’S GOING ON WITH BEATO WHO’S SON IS THE CURRENT BATTLER IS UMINEKO 5 COMPLETE?!

You’ll be okay. You’ll be more than okay. EVERYTHING WILL BE GREATER THAN OKAY.

In other words, Umineko is complete at ep. 8 plus a couple side stories. You won’t have to wait for anything.

Gah, now I’m just depressed

because I want to re-read the Umineko series and figure out everything on my own, but I definitely don’t have the time to do that.

And also, because the events that happened on Rokkenjima are depressing too. It’s not a happy ending, but it’s not a sad ending either. =/

Not that anon. Bern makes the game according to what happens in previous games. I can say that what you have concluded so far on everything else is correct. Since the Shkanon thing is still kind of confusing, Bern goes out of her way to put it bluntly: Shannon and Kanon are the same person. And the proof is right there: As soon as Shannon is killed, Kanon disappears forever. His murderer is the same one that killed Shannon. No one finds his body. I think it's a shame, I still refuse it somehow.

I see I see. I too have my doubts about this theory, but leaving that aside…I went through all of that game’s hints and they didn’t even make MENTION of Kanon. Honestly, I wish they had at least said something along the lines of “Let’s just say Shannon and Kanon had the same killer.” But they didn’t—the game simply dropped all references to Kanon.

It's because of 'Shkanon'. Shannon and Kanon have the same body. It's one person holding two keys, so once that person's body can be confirmed as dead, then the 'Kanon personality' dies.

But I thought it was promised that Bernkastel’s game was just a simple mystery—and that it’s solvable from within the game itself? Regardless of whether Shkanon exists, there’s no proof of it within Bernkastel’s game, so I would still consider Kanon as real in this instance.

A Problem With Bernkastel’s Game?

SPOILER WARNING: So this is going to contain Umineko Episode 8 spoilers. More specifically, it’s going to talk about the solution to Bernkastel’s game.

So is it just me, or is the logic of the solution COMPLETELY WRONG? As far as I can tell, any combination of Battler, George, Maria and their parents could have been the culprits. Here’s why:

According to the game, the reason that only one of the three cousins (Battler, George, Maria) could have been a culprit, because only one of them could have killed Shannon. Since it’s been confirmed that George couldn’t kill Shannon, we can also confirm that Maria couldn’t kill Shannon. Therefore, Battler is supposedly the logical choice.

But then let me ask you….WHO KILLED KANON?

It’s stated in red that Kanon is treated as killed and that his key is destroyed, but doesn’t that mean he must have a murderer?

It seems the game has completely ignored Kanon-kun’s killer when considering the solution. But with both Shannon and Kanon killed at the same time, this means that up to two of the cousins could be culprits. With no way to figure out which two, or even if there’s only just one, the deduction stops here and there’s actually no way to solve this puzzle.

See how far my logic has taken me? What do you guys think?
